It took 3 plus hours (all numbers estimated) to empty basement of water with a garden hose. The hose emptied into a stone driveway, and the pump was set into a shallow declivity of the basement floor. I rented it from Ace Hardware for $13/day. The water comes out clear, from the hose. Basement is about 900 square feet, and the water from the sewer, about 4 inches deep. It was brackish storm water. Unplug the pump to shut off, plug it in to start. Keep upright, so, use on a level surface. Our slight declivity was perfect! Note: same model, but 1/6 HP! Confusing!
